Southampton Vixens Cheerleading Squad took their success to the next level with their Dance and Competition Squad at the ICC Cheerleading National Championships concluding their year of competition.

Vixens Nationals 6

The year began with the Vixens Dance Squad achieving a third place finish in the Senior Open Hip-Hop Division at ICC Southerns. They brought a revised version of the routine to Future Cheer, impressing the judges with their stamina, crowd appeal and creativity bringing them to the middle of the charts against 15 University teams.

Despite the slow start to the season, they were determined to take their achievements to the next level. With four weeks left before their final and biggest competition, ICC Nationals, the girls reconstructed their routine, transforming both their music and choreography. This effort was recognized on Day 1 of ICC Nationals when the girls were ranked first in their division with a nerve-wracking 6-point lead over Cardiff Snakecharmers. The girls, anxious to maintain their lead, took the feedback from Day 1 into their Day 2 performance. Day 2 began with an agonizing sense of uncertainty when the music jumped 3 times during the opening of their routine. The squad remained composed and finished their performance with the same level of energy and drive to smash their final competing performance of the year.

In spite of the technical difficulties, Dance Squad not only came first in the University Hip-Hop Division, earning the ICC National Champions title but also scored the highest across all ICC Hip-Hop divisions (including All Star teams), defeating their runners up, Cardiff Snakecharmers by 18 points and the previous 4 year reigning National Champions, Royal Holloway Tomcats by 99.5 points.

Competition Squad also carried on their year of success taking home third place in the Senior All-Girl Level 3 division at ICC Nationals, a highly competitive division against All Star teams. Despite their competition, they achieved the highest score across all University competing squads, reinforcing their well-deserved Grand Champs title earlier on in the year at Future Cheer.

It has truly been a revolutionary year for the Vixens making a mark in the All Star cheer world, ending their competitive season with a total of three first place wins; earning themselves both Grand and National Champion titles between their Competition and Dance Squad.

A big well done to the girls and good luck with Show Day in May!

Yes there are, it’s called Worlds! :) Unfortunately, they take place in Miami and teams require bids (sponsorships from competition companies) in order to get there, fingers crossed for future Vixens, would be amazing to be a university team at that level!

Wow round of applause for the guy who just wants to mention he slept with a cheerleader. Let’s have a party, it can involve ‘cheerleadings’.

The mention of the divisions would suggest that they won their respective divisions, silly. Vixens hip hop won in dance (not against cheer, UCL has no dance team) (UCL entered University division – with males – cheer) while the Vixens cheer sqaud, as mentioned, entered Senior All-Girls (against All-Star teams). So no not everyone in cheerleading wins, I’m sure the other 8-10 teams in our divisions can tell you that, but obviously every division has a winner. But congratulations on getting laid, you should feel like a winner too.
