Campaigning for both teams in the NUS Referendum is reaching its climax and both sides are still very keen to voice their views and win your vote. The Meh team are here too, and they are just keen for biscuits. Tonight in the Bridge, is the last of the NUS debates and both teams will be battling it out to persuade you either way.

Expect to hear about a range of views from costs and possible savings, national representation, discount cards and the changing state of higher education. As usual, The Tab will be providing a stream of witty and impartial comments directly to your computer screens.

Oh and SUSUtv are providing some live coverage so we thought we’d link that in for you. You can also listen on Surge if watching it live is a little too much for you…

Debators for the ‘Yes’ team are Sam Ling and Claire Gilbert whilst Tab editor Luke O’Brien and Katy O’Brien (no, they’re not related!) will be representing the ‘No’ team.

19.48

Right we’re all done here! Voting opens at midnight and shuts at 6pm tomorrow. Voting is online at www.susu.org/vote

Check out our articles here on the arguments from Yes, No and Meh teams.

Over and out.

19.45

Its over.

Lets socialise.

Oli Coles, where are you?

19.45

Luke OB: Joining nus is a bad idea. It is politically split and not representative of students. Members are out for their interests. We would be throwing away money and it’s not what students want money spent on. Joining is a terrible idea.”

You can vote at susu.org/vote from 12 tonight.

19.44

I’m voting No because i’m in love with Luke OB . LOL jk the NUS is a shocking idea.

19.43

bothDo both final speeches are so choose and powerful, if you weren’t confused on which way to vote before, you probably will be after hearing them!!

19.43

Sam is more passionate than a dog in heat.

19.43

Sam says: Vote YES to NUS!

Luke says: Vote NO to NUS!

No surprises there then!

19.43

Say Yes To a Pint and a packet of crisps now please

19.42

Judging by the number of hits on SUSU TV nobody gives a flying fuck.

19.42

“Joining the NUS would be a massive disgrace to SUSU” Luke OB

19.42

Lots of Samisms here.

19.42

Sam arguing about the summation jut so he can talk some more Alister Campbell

19.41

Summation timeeeee

19.41

Sam wasn’t listening to the Chair when he said the last question would be a summation.

19.41

Awkward interruption…

19.41

Luke ‘it would be a massive disgrace to see SUSU join the NUS… I think it would fail its members’

19.40

It’s over!

19.40

Luke: If SUSU say Yes, they’ll be throwing a lot of money down the drain.

Luke has compared the NUS to the old Bridge bar; a bit grey and dull. Luke says throwing money at projects at a national level won’t work.

19.40

Luke pointing out why should we pay the NUS to fix it for them

19.40

Doug has completed his danger wank and none of you even noticed

19.40

WHY IS EVERYONE BANGING ON ABOUT THE FUCKING BRIDGE BAR.

19.39

“safety net”

Please can we go crabbing

19.39

More talking about how great the Bridge is. I reckon it’s a bit over-rated now.

19.38

claire gilbert giving the image of NUS as a safety net. A strong national voice along side 7million students!  Inspirational little yes team speech

19.38

Pretty sure doug will attempt a danger wank if this goes on much longer

19.38

Oh Claire’s talking now. Sam’s been mike-hogging

19.37

Luke: I think we’ve done this topic to death.

Chair: Yeah, I agree.

19.37

Oh yeah…Claire’s here

19.37

Sam: “Don’t believe everything you read in the Daily Mail”

What about the Tab…?

19.37

Doug makes it clear that spooning is not currently on the cards, but will provide allowance for it in the future.

19.37

Liam Burns as popular in the NUS as Benitez is at Chelsea

19.37

Fell asleep and woke up on university challenge

FACTS GALORE…

And some strange clothing

19.37

Sam: I get people telling me I’m not doing things right, repeatedly.

19.36

Sounding like an xfactor sob story now

19.36

Oli Coles left, but came back for me

19.36

Luke: NUS President told delegates to “get back in their box”.

19.35

Liam Burns shook my hand once, I wet myself

19.35

Liam burns got egged apparently at demo2012. I know it’s bad, but is there a YouTube video floating around??

19.35

Discussing NUS officers

THEY DONT EVEN GO HERE

19.35

Or perhaps a fork?

19.34

Fancy a spoon Doug?

19.34

Hands up

PICK ME, PICK ME

19.33

The Cube doesn’t make much money – well certainly not at the moment

19.33

Oli Coles..

Pentrating his phone with a charger

Ohh

19.33

Sam: The Cube doesn’t bring much profit for clubs and socieites

19.32

Fiona McCann’s browser has crashed. She is mashing her screen like a confused koala

19.32

Alex Bees

“fancy a quickie?”

19.31

Luke: Have you been to the cube lately? Oh wait nobody has.

19.31

Sam thinks we have made our budget more sustainable now, 2 years ago it was not. The were ward is to be able to make decisions like joining NUS, without affecting clubs and societies

19.31

Sam: The budget is now sustainable that is what has changed, the reward is that NUS wont detract anything from student groups.

19.30

Shane’s gonna let you finish

19.30

We definitely have the money as Sam wrote the budget

19.30

Neither teams have liked each other

Facebook is the Bible

19.29

Q: Where has the £200k budget in SUSU come from and what can it be done for students?

19.29

Budget budget. readjusting the budget. Sounds boring.

19.28

More audience questions. Too quick to keep uppppp

19.28

Oli  Coles refers to Ben Morton as a beautiful man. Oli watch is jealous.

19.28

Sam: 90% yes Votes

Luke: As soon as people know what the NUS is really about, that’s when those votes decrease. As seen in Sussex and St Andrews

19.27

Claire Gilbert admitting she voted no 2 years ago because she didn’t see the benefits of NUS, but has now changed her views (obvs)

19.27

Shane gets himself a water, probably plans on interrupting someone soon.

19.26

The problem is the debate teams always try to walk it into the net

19.26

National demonstrations are ineffective- a Twitter quote

Sam Ling: tuition fees are still discussed thoug

19.26

So much activity on The Tab that the server is buckling! Our apologies- but also, this makes us look good.

19.26

JUST IN on the Tab’s Twitter feed:

Tesco’s buy 1 get 2 free on Terry’s chocolate oranges, beautiful.

YES!

19.26

Claire: The NUS is still bureaucratic

19.25

Katy: We should learn lessons from other unions.

19.25

This is long.

19.25

From Jade Head (Societies Officer at SUSU) via Twitter:

There is nothing to stop women running for positions in SUSU

19.24

Luke asking what’s changed in NUS in the past 2 years? in his opinion, nothing

19.24

Katy O’Brian: women role models are needed, training wont provide this

19.23

“Very nice” -Boris Johnson

19.23

Oli Coles is muttering

19.23

e.g. Anne Widdecombe – phwoarrrrr!!!

19.22

Katy – we need more women in politics and this will filter down in to student politics. NUS training won’t help this. Women need role models in politics.

19.22

Alex Bees “I love women”

19.22

“Women eh! What are they! Can’t find them, sometimes” -Moss off the IT Crowd

19.22

Sam: There is a widely recognized issue surrounding lack of engagement of women in student union politics.

19.21

Claire says NUem training helps empower our members, specifically women!

Katy it’s its about the individualsspecify he fact that they’re women.

I feel a feminist debate coming on…

19.21

so are we sending 12,000 women to training – bet that’s cheap

19.21

Women get training (from an external company other than the NUS) in order to engage in politics…

KNEW FEMALE EMPOWERMENT WOULD ONE DAY COME ABOUT

Next step: How to be a golddigger? Oh wait…

19.20

Claire is empowering women one affiliation fee at a time.

19.20

Chloe Green’s dream ‘Woman Empowerment training’

19.19

Claire is playing the woman card!

19.19

I’m a woman. This is about me now.

19.19

Issue of training here: Is the SUSU’s training good enough?

19.19

Sam:”Training involves interaction, networking, campaigning and lobbying, influencing…

Not just for the Sabbs”

19.18

Sam engaged , I thought he was married

19.18

Sam Ling – we can learn things from opening up our box…. What box Sam, huh huh?

19.18

Skrillex does nothing but add to this debate.

19.18

Moggy and Michelle Dando’s boyfriend Gilani having a giggle at the back.

19.17

Sam: Sabbs will get to network.

Shane will LOVE that.

19.17

Lucy sneezed. In case you didn’t all hear and look

19.17

tbf anything is better than Made in Chelsea

19.17

We are loving the responses on twitter! You are giving us giggles!

19.16

From Anna Fry on Twitter:

Is it the right time to be joining the NUS when its own members identified that its national demonstrations are ineffective?

19.16

Lukey you so powerful

19.16

The Yes team are contradicting themselves and the audience are picking up on it.

19.16

My sister is president of one of those unions – i don’t want to be connected to her in any way

19.16

Yall gonna make me lose my mind up in here, up in here

19.15

Claire “We’re amazing”

YES WE ARE! Although, sadly I don’t think she was talking about the Tab…

19.15

claire Gilbert – if we can do this much for sustainability, imagine what we can combined with 600 other universities…. We can make NUS do more by being part of them.

19.14

HEARTBREAK AS OLI COLES KNOWS ANOTHER GIRL

19.14

Claire says the debate is going off topic. Isn’t that the Chair’s decision?

19.14

Apparently theirs more information available – so why haven’t we been told it then?

19.14

Brb….chundering as am still hungover

19.13

This shiz is better than Made in Chelsea , thanks gang

Quite a statement! Thank you!

19.13

For sustainability: Luke says Green Action society at Southampton did a report on the NUS’ green campaigns and SUSU do them all already.

19.13

Oli Coles is talking to a girl. WHO IS SHE?

19.12

Are we having a chip butty break?

19.12

Sustainability question from twitter

Sam Ling: Changing environmental movements, supports national ‘green’ programmes. Comments on what Southampton already participates in e.g ‘The Black-out’. If we engage with the environmental issues, we will learn and pull across ideas.

19.12

We can grow our own produce As a union… potatoesssss!

19.12

Anyone know if anything good is on TV tonight?

19.11

The NUS have zones – SUSU are about to aswell – wonder where the idea came from?

19.10

We can confirm a question referring to the gains to sabbs through joining the NUS has been declined – nature of said question was too personal.

19.10

Sam: Those people that vote are the right people to vote because they bothered voting.

19.10

Sam reckons we’ll get into the thousands for votes in this referendum

19.10

No team : That would be nice, but it’s not for either team to say. Although it has been seen to work out.

Yes team: Whoever turns out is the right people to vote. Although I do suspect we’ll get into the 1,000’s for this.

19.10

Minimum turnout? apparently its a struggle to get some students to go to uni at all

19.09

Chair has denied a question from an audience member stating that it was too personal. Here’s the question:

What will Sabbs gain from joining the NUS?

Is that personal? Yes or No?

19.09

Oli Coles is tweeting

19.09

What will the sabb’s gain from joining the NUS? Question not answered for being too personal. Awk.

19.08

Soton tab reader getting a question. Oh Yeaaah, check us outttt

19.08

Douggy T is playing angry birds…

Badly

19.08

Q: “What will the Sabbs gain from joining the NUS” -Too personal apparently!

19.07

Audience questions…

19.07

Sam Ling getting laughs from the audience at his speeches. Not sure if good or bad :/

19.07

Russel Group Universities are discriminating against international students that’s a bold statement right there.

19.07

Thumb printing international students in to lectures. Sam says he doesn’t want to get the point where we have to do this. That’d be awkward….

19.07

WE HAVE A LAUGHER

19.06

What situations have Southampton ever been in that the NUS could have ‘helped’ with, or ‘protected’ us from?

19.06

Bridge staff, if you’re reading, please come and collect our empty glasses and plates. Perhaps bring us a few pints as well? Cheers.

19.06

Madness

19.06

Oli Coles watch latest: Theres a scab on his arm.

19.05

It’s been nearly an hour and a few yawns are starting to appear across the room.

19.05

Does anyone have any money up in here?

19.05

Jade Head on Twitter:

We don’t need the NUS to protect our international students

19.05

ClaireThe calibre Gilbert – people think the London met situation is the only good thing in NUS for international students. It’s not.

19.05

Who ya gonna call? GingerBusters

19.04

Ohhh liney

19.04

Katy o’brien – our university has a highly trusted status with international students. We have a good system with international students

19.04

What even happened at London Met?

The average students don’t know

19.04

Sasha was sat next to a load of international students but then Shane showed up. Good old smurphy.

19.03

Katy: Any international student here knows what they have to do to be here and our universty enforces this properly.

19.03

I’d russell Sam’s group.

19.03

Sam – we don’t have any protection from being in the Russell Group. All they do is have dinners. It’s each university for themselves, not a magical safety net. Im not scare mongering.

19.02

This text is in bold type

19.02

Oli Coles, how much money do you have?

19.01

Sam: I can tell you I haven’t been scare-mongroling students!

19.01

You may not have been scary students Sam..

19.01

Katy O’Brien – the yes team are scaring international students with this issue. It will not happen

19.01

Katy: The Yes team are scaremongering international students.

Sam: I haven’t.

19.00

Construed: LukeWords #2

19.00

LOB: I dispute that our University will face the visa problem that London Met had. The NUS lawsuit had no impact, the London Met case won first.

19.00

Sam Ling – well eh no.

19.00

Luke is on a roll here

19.00

If we had a situation like the London met this summer and weren’t part of NUS, wouldn’t they help us anyway?

19.00

OLI COLES IS BACK.

OHHH.

Oli Coles watch…reporting 2k12

18.59

Oli Coles has returned. Coles watch continues.

18.59

Lucy Upshall is having lots of fun sucking her thumb.

18.59

The Glen Eyre debate got cancelled aswell before this week

18.58

Its not the Yes or No team’s place to deal with general site apathy.

18.58

Luke says “Monte it the biggest halls”

18.58

Claire Gilbert says we need to look at the long term

18.57

Is there an engagement problem with our sites? Katy o’brien says this is a problem within SUSU and not something that NUS could help

18.57

Katy OB: Students didn’t even know a referendum is going on

18.57

I went to Winchester once, I must have been high

18.56

Poor attendance.

No one cares.

Wonder how many people will vote Thursday?

18.56

Apparently Boiler house was rather full after the scheduled debate

18.55

Actually… What would CATMAN do?

18.55

Need support

…Get a bra

18.55

Katy using her experience as a site officer putting her knowledge to excellence use

18.55

Oli Coles has left.

Lucy Upshall instantly turned off.

18.55

Yes say there is a large amount of support for our sites from NUS. No say that NUS should do more research on our sites.

18.54

What would Batman do?

18.54

Alex Bees leaves for a wee.

Lucy Upshall instantly turned on.

18.54

“what benefits can winchester get from affiliation?”

“Dundee has similar issues with their sites and can be emailed, doesn’t need to be done through NUS”- Katy

Sam Ling: “expert schools…unpaid internships at Winchester and NUS provides support for this”

18.53

Doug Thompson is struggling with the crosswords. Never been that good at English really. Why is he writing tbh

18.53

NUS are fighting to abolish unpaid internships. I’m a nurse can they get me paid for my placements?

18.53

Katy OB on sites and Winchester: why do we need the NUS to put us into contact with other Unions, what’s wrong with a phone or email?

18.53

Quoting Mr Burns now, well not exactly

18.53

katy asking why we have to join NUS for them to answer their emails? they want their questions answered about sites before voting

18.52

Katy: We need to address poor engagement at our sites on a local level not a national one.

18.52

Winchester. Whatchu gonna do?

18.51

Who’s jumper looks softer – Sam or Luke’s ?? Tough decisions

18.51

‘poorly attended’ – more like ‘actively avoided’

18.51

Luke smashes it with some maths.

18.51

Doug returns with a newspaper. Lets get reading.

18.51

Luke putting his calculator to use!

18.50

Doug is reading the paper now

18.50

Marcus. Show Oli these comments.

18.50

LOB: Is the discount card really worth the £51k affiliation fee? Is it wroth getting caught up in the politics?

18.50

Oli Coles is texting.

Hope he doesn’t have a girlfriend.

18.49

It’s coldie

18.49

Sam: “5% of students had an NUS Extra card”

18.49

The really awkward moment when you don’t have your NUS card at pizza express…. So awkward…

18.49

Claire actually very diplomatic – but needs to check the facts with Sam

18.48

Q: Are discount cards something that Southampton students want?

18.48

Discount cards..OHH

18.48

More people in the bridge staying away from the debate #prettymuchanotherdebatefailure

18.48

Katy – the campaign team for no2nus is student led.

18.48

2 months campaigning for 1 day of voting.

18.47

So much sexual tension here..

Lucy Upshall sucking her thumb. DELICIOUS.

18.47

Sam says he has engaged with lots of passionate students so he believes he is listening to them and they do want a referendum.

18.47

Sam I dont think you asked enough people. I’ve gone from enraged to sad.

18.46

Has Sam lost his momentum?!

18.46

Oli Coles just saw my mention.

Smirk seen.

Oli Coles watch continues…

18.46

Plenty of Samisms here: BLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHBLAH etc
But no actual content

18.46

now Sam says if only enegaged with 40 people this week – not so many then

18.46

Claire answers that we are listening to students and that this referendum was their idea

18.45

Question from David in the audience: Why wasn’t in your manifestos if you say it’s in the best interest of students? Do you not faith in your students by wanting a new referendum every 2 years?

18.45

Previous debate turnouts: 0

No one is interested…

18.45

David: The real thing that has bugged me about this is that we are supposed to trust the student voice…. Claire: It wasn’t on the sabbs manifesto but it has come from students.

18.45

Dean in charge of the microphone – obviously good with short thin things…

18.45

‘You are supposed to trust the student voice. We had a referendum 2 years ago…….. Won’t you trust the voice enough to n wait 4 years like other universities.’

18.45

Are we going to vote on this referendum every 2 years?

18.44

Open questions now. Anyone want to ask anything? Let us know on Twitter, or in the comments.

18.44

Even the people here aren’t actually engaging time for questions though

18.44

Ooh question time

18.43

Luke: We will see on Thursday. Tru dat.

18.43

Doug’s gone for a wee

Blog site crashes

18.43

Katy talking about how strong SUSU already is

18.42

Sam appears to talk to a lot of people – he won’t talk to me though

18.42

Meh team member just left. hopefullbasic unitsbasic units

18.42

Sam reckons hes in touch with students and there is a joy in that. N’awwwh.

18.42

Oli Coles talking

AND IS HIS PHONE

Oli Coles watch to be continued…

18.42

Claire again – what’s the point in electing people if they’re not going to strive for what they believe? – referring to sans/student leaders involvements in campaigning

18.41

Sam: “It’s not all about me”

18.41

Guess who needs a wee again!

18.41

From Bridget Clay on twitter commenting on Luke O’Brien’s jumper:

‘s choice of jumper is the cherry on top of a very enjoyable NUS debate liveblog from the  ! Great work

18.40

Sam Ling ‘students do care’ YES WE DO!!

18.40

Can someone get me another pint – far too sober to be watching this

18.40

£350 FOR A BOARD BAG

….Thanks Bees

18.40

90% of people that Sam has spoken to care about this referendum. Who the have you been talking to?!!!!

18.39

The sexual tension in here is just something else

18.39

Sam was talking about conference:

This is Sasha and Shane with NUS top dog Liam Burns at the last conference. LOLOLOLOLOL

18.39

Claire Gilbert – no matter what the outcome of the vote we all need to just accept it

18.39

BRB buying a a bag for my surf board

18.38

Both teams have worked so hard – awwnawww

18.38

well there was something from the NUS conference, a picture maybe?

18.38

“Both teams have tried” Claire

18.38

Apparently its hard to respond to a personal attack.

18.37

Yes No Meh I don’t know can you stop asking the question

18.37

Sam says he’s asking if we should join, and that he wasn’t sure when he wrote his manifesto.

18.36

Sam Ling “Asking a question to ask a question…” sounds like union council

18.36

Our Wessex Scene counterparts who are also blogging have probably only just reached double figures for hits…

18.36

This conversation has been done to death urgh

18.36

Sam Ling was not convinced about affiliating when he wrote his manifesto. He then did further research and visited national conference and decided that affiliating with NUS would be best for SUSU

18.36

Sam seems annoyed that he is being asked about his involvement in the yes2nus campaigning….again.

18.36

Sam Ling is making lots of inconvenient innuendo.

18.35

Here we go again…

18.35

Luke O’Brien – why did our Sabbs not put NUS ambitions in their manifestos?

18.35

Discussions of manifestos and the lack of mentions about joining the NUS

18.34

UH-OH SABB INVOLVEMENT HAS BEEN RAISED.

18.34

Read  for their live blog on the NUS debate. Don’t bother with the Tab

That’s not very nice now is it…?

18.34

Luke: “40% of councillors voted against keeping minutes in SUSU on Monday… that says a lot for our own Union in keeping our transparency”

18.34

NUS change things.

18.34

Sam: We are not perfect.

18.34

Andrea from the No team slowly caresses her nails and gives the panelists a very Serbian glance.

18.34

Sam Ling says “they (NUS) could do better…And so could SUSU”

18.33

Why would the NUS work on its communication with non-members? SUSU seems pretty good with working the tab despite our lack of affiliation.

18.33

Big talks about rigged elections and options to BUY voting cards from political factions in the NUS. Haven’t heard much from Sam other than transparency

18.33

auto correct hates me

18.33

Stop sucking your thumb Lucy you look like a 3 year old

18.33

I am surrounded by women and have no idea how to react

18.32

There will be healthy debates between unis that are in NUS. There are A LOT of thesurnatural realnatural real

18.32

Someone buy us a packet of crisps….

AND A NEW HANDBAG

Durham’scurrent SU pres is pro NUS.

Last years wasn’t, things change. THINGS CHANGE.

OHH RIGGED ELECTIONS…..juice juice juice

18.32

Doug can’t deicde whether to look at Fiona or Lucy

18.32

Might test out the Bridge’s new menu… Any recommendations?

18.32

Here’s the action for you folks. Who’s got the best knitted jumper? Luke O’Brien or Sam Ling? Let us know in the comments!

18.32

No team have touched on political personal gain.

18.32

Your mum changes every year

18.31

Quotes from former uni presidents…. BlahBlah

18.31

Dench

18.30

Lucy looks like she needs to be bought something.

18.30

Sam asks “what’s the definition of politics”

18.30

Q – is it possible for NUS to stay out of politics?

18.29

Lucy is being a massive troll and taking things out of context lol

18.29

Some NUS presidents were labour MPs who voted for higher tuition fees

18.29

It appears the NUS campaign for us anyway whether we are in it or not

18.29

Forgotten everything that has been said.

9k fees, Im not paying them so it’s ok.

18.28

Claire: “Sabbs test the wetness of water”

18.28

NEWFLASH: The NUS doesn’t control what the government does. 9k fees anyone?

18.28

Debater bowing head…

Yeah, know how you feel

18.28

Luke: NUS is wasting time not doing stuff for students but supporting the Gaza ceasefire.

OMG GUYS, THE NUS HAVE STEPPED IN TO SUPPORT THE CEASEFIRE!

That has taken a huge weight off of my shoulders…

18.28

How do you even ask the NUS a question? Is Twitter the only way?

18.28

NUS put forward issues that Students ask them to

18.27

Luke from the NO team admits the NUS has good policys but then goes on to tell us how alot of them irrelevant.

18.27

This week NUS of fought for un paid internships for students. They are constantly fighting for things that affect students

18.27

Spurious – I don’t understand this word- Luke please clarify

18.27

It appears Claire is not allowed to talk without an extension from Sam

18.26

Some kind people up in here

18.26

We can’t have a say in the national voice of NUS if we’re not apart of it

18.26

I’m outraged at this outrage

18.26

18.26

Might jump ship to solent.

18.26

ALAS…females talking

18.25

‘SUSU makes mistakes’ – would joining the NUS be one of them?

18.25

Good work Alice- restaurant booked! If your reading this your invited

18.25

samIslam is impressed with how NUS have dealt with their out of line officers.

18.25

Everyone seems pleased about tigerlilly. Sorry sam but this is BIG news.

18.25

Doug: do you wanna play Jenga?

18.24

NUS can’t try and censor us with their no platform policy

18.24

WHEN ARE THE WOMEN GOING TO TALK?

THEN WE WILL HAVE SOME REAL TALK.

Love that bitchy shit.

18.24

No platform being something that the tab and scene actually published together

18.24

Tigerlilly is on

18.23

I had a platform on your mum

18.23

Luke “racism…is bad”

Mentioned Greece. No money there, no interest

18.23

6>2 good maths there Luke

18.23

Sam: “when we go back into the NUS” – Sam must be confident then

18.23

Sam talking about why Aaron Kiely is a rouge NUS officer and that  his views don’t reflect that of NUS

18.22

Sam is a fantastic speaker

18.22

This reminds me of Hot Fuzz

18.22

New buzzword: Censured.

18.22

Sam says “Aaron Keily (NUS officer) shouldn’t have bullied student unions”

18.21

Sam shouts over the coffee machine.

18.21

Your mums a fascist

18.21

Moved on to the No Platform policy…

18.21

NUSSL would give us a bigger profit in union shop. Bigger than the fee for joining NUS

18.21

Open letters?

Yeah, you have to open them to read them

18.21

No Platform Policy – this could be slightly more interesting

18.21

Q: should we trust the NUS when officers have abused the No Platform policy

18.21

“I think we’re going to stop that question there cos I’m fucking bored to tears”

18.21

First one to ‘TAKE YOUR TOP OFF’ gets my vote

18.20

Some people already leaving the bridge

18.20

i don’t understand why everyone’s getting so upset over a bit of potato juice

18.20

SHES DOESN’T EVEN GO HERE

18.20

Its our choice if we join NUSSL but Sam has just said ‘when we join NUSSL’. I feel confused.

18.20

Why should we join if we won’t take advantage of all the benefits on offer to us? Q from the no team

18.19

Sam says we have choice with NUSSL but Luke says we have more choice now than ever

18.19

Apparently we have less choice now in the union shop then we would if we joined NUSSL

18.19

NO ONE GOES TO THE CUBE

18.18

I’d be shocked if I was tricked into Sam’s mum

18.18

Debating if joining NUSSL is a good idea or not. should we be supporting our local businesses? Or can we continue to support them if we do join?

18.18

I looooove farming

18.17

Just want Tropicana Orange Juice tbh

18.17

Sam is talking. I’m still not sure if I like this whole ‘no facial hair’ thing. I don’t like change

18.17

18.17

brum brum

I WANT A TRAIN

18.17

samSous am explaining how SUSU Have spent money on what students want.

18.16

NUSSL and all that shit

18.16

Sam mentions NUSSL and says if we joined SUSU would still have to pay £33k a year

18.15

Oh the bus argument…

We could get get Lucy Upshall Audi too

18.15

Luke: Independent auditors are only certain of affilaition fee and everything else is not sure, maybe, perhaps etc…

18.15

Alice has left because she has prior commitments involving her birthday. Fair enough tbh

18.15

bossing it lukey

18.15

q: Is joining the NUS financially a good idea?

18.15

If we use NUSSL, what happens the day we want to leave NUS for political/representation reasons? We’d have to rethink our whole stocking in order to be able to make such a choice…

18.21 – false, we would NOT make £50k profit from NUSSL, only around 6K more then we do now according to the auditors (not include current deals we get)

“If I elect an official because I rely on them to have an opinion on something, they should be able to express that opinion”

Nobody elected any of the Sabbs for their opinion on the NUS.
    None of them had one.

Should there be a minimum voter turnout for the result to stick? Not something ridiculously small like for UC, but big like 25%+ of all students?

No team : That would be nice, but it’s not for either team to say. Although it has been seen to work out.

Yes team: Whoever turns out is the right people to vote. Although I do suspect we’ll get into the 1,000?s for this.

That’s the gist of it I think :)
